We have never had violas in our string orchestra. Last semester, I decided to use full-size violins as violas. That is the only way we found to add this instrument to the string orchestra. We need to get real violas instead violins in order to provide the students with a full string orchestra sound experience. The students need to understand that The viola is one of the 'harmonic building blocks' of the orchestra/string section. They provide the bridge between D-Bass and Celli and the violins and are used to fill in the harmony. Our String orchestra deserves to have real violas.
