My class consists of 4th and 5th grade students in a self-contained bridge class. All of my students have disabilities, whether it is academic, emotional or behavioral. Many of these students come from low-income families, and school is the only place they can learn to their full potential. Although some face academic hardship, they always try their best. In addition, my students cannot sit in one place for a long time as they become anxious. Throughout a lesson, they need to be able to have different seating arrangements; such as the rug for mini lesson, their tables for guided practice and flexible seating for independent practice.
My students are curious and eager to learn, but they need the right resources in order to have a successful learning experience.
Hello everyone! This is my first time teaching in a classroom of my own. This will also be my first time teaching special education. I want to be able to provide the best learning experience for my students. To do that, a rug is essential during mini-lessons and meetings. In addition, flexible seating such as a balance ball and bean bag chair will give my students who need to move around a way to focus.
As a believer in student centered learning, I strongly believe that students can succeed if they have the right resources.
Please help me create a classroom that feels like a safe and comfortable learning community. Thank you so much!
