Help me give my students money for an FLL registration fee and field kit, so they can compete in the Lego robotics competition.
FULLY FUNDED! Mrs. L.'s classroom raised $430
This project is fully funded
My Students
Robot Invasion! Students love robots and building them. Lego has created a community for children to build, program, and compete with Lego robots. We received a robot kit called the EV3, now they want to compete against other teams. Therefore, we need to raise money for the registration fee.
FIRST Lego League (FLL) challenges students to research a problem, find a solution and share the idea, encouraging collaboration and teamwork while building a robot that attempts different missions.
My 6th grade science classes are part of a public school in a growing suburban town in NH. Middle school students learn more by doing than reading, and science class is the perfect place to make discoveries. As the new national science standards are implemented, the focus is to develop STEM (Science, Technology, Engineering, Math) lessons. They love to make connections to real world problems. Instead of hearing, "Why do we need to learn this?" I get students who can't wait to do things like forensics or other explorations. Our students are digital natives and expect to use technology in the classroom so that they are part of the 21st century. They build Lego robots then use them to explore science concepts.
My Project
The FIRST Lego League is a national program that challenges students to build a robot and program them to accomplish missions like obstacles in the field. Each team has 2.5 minutes to complete as many missions as possible. My teams will spend months meeting 5-10 hours a week designing and planning for this event. They learn team work, cooperation, design techniques, programming skills, documentation and communication. They are judged on their robot performance and teamwork and research presentation. This year's topic is "CITY SHAPERS" where our team will "observe how cities and buildings grow, thrive, and change. They will create innovative solutions to help make sure our future community is the best it can be to help shape our future environment to reach new heights and build a strong, sustainable, accessible future."
My teams will put their heart and souls into getting ready.
They need your generous donations so they can focus on the preparations for competition. They can't compete without raising the registration fee. You can help make a difference in their lives. You can change their world! Your generous donation will inspire my students. They will excitedly look forward to each competition knowing you made it possible to attend. They will learn 21st century skills, help the environment, and have fun. You will inspire future engineers.
