Celebrate Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month

This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.

My Students

I teach English and robotics coaching at a Title I middle school where most of our students are truly living each day in "survival mode"; often not knowing where they will sleep or if they will have a meal outside of the school program. They most often can not use technology outside of the classroom, therefore, it is my goal to bring some creativity to learning while learning math, science, and robotics, which has helped to create a pipeline to local businesses upon graduation.

My students are amazing little humans who deserve a strong sense of community, through relationships between parents, students, and educators.

Curious, enthusiastic, and creative; my students are eager to immerse themselves in any kind of challenge, especially the use of technology and engineering.

My Project

All our students want to excel in their learning and acquire a STEAM skill so they may live a better life than their parents. Our classes have limited resources and can only use one STEM activity for every 15 students, which results in most students not getting the hands-on experience needed to increase understanding of content and develop critical thinking skills.

The two LEGO SPIKE Prime Sets I have requested will provide the opportunity for more students to participate and improve cognitive development through hands-on experience.

This helps them with the basic idea of STEM technology and the design process used in most industries they can work for in the future.

As they progress, they will be able to understand the importance of teamwork and independent work to collaborate both in-person and virtually to develop products or services that will have a positive impact on society.

We will also be able to use these items for checkout for students in a virtual learning status because they have been affected by COVID-19 or other reasons.

The LEGO Education sets will play many roles in the program for the students. First and foremost, it will give all students a chance to develop much needed skills for future employment in the workforce, while having fun. This will enhance the learning environment not only in the classroom, but in the virtual classroom as well.
