Celebrating Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month
This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
Do you remember what it was like not to be able to concentrate in school because you were too hungry? My 6 and 7 year old students are constantly requesting food in the afternoon.
I currently teach 27 very sweet first graders in a Title I school located in a high poverty and high crime area in Pennsylvania.
All of my students receive free breakfast and free lunch. Many of my students come from homes where English is not spoken.
My Project
I would love for my first grade students to have an afternoon snack time. They currently eat lunch at 11:15. Between 1:30 and 2:00 many of my students tell me that they are hungry and want a snack. I am requesting a large container of pretzels, potato straws and several different kinds of crackers.
Please help keep my students well fed.
I feel that my giving my students an afternoon snack of healthy foods that they will be able to stay better focused on their studies. This would be a dream come true for our classroom.
