My Students

In our classroom, students are the leaders, they help teach their peers in ways I cannot reach them. My students are always part of the learning process, I want to get them excited about using technology to help them achieve a successful future!

We are part of a Title I school and have many students receiving free or reduced lunch.

My students are from diverse backgrounds and have diverse learning styles. They love first grade because they learn to read and write and do "hard" math problems. We work hard every day to connect our learning to things in our lives to make it more memorable. My students are all very different, but they work together very well and are always willing to help one other. They have great manners and they strive to reach the goals that are set in front of them each day. We talk every day about how we can do hard things! My students believe they can achieve and most importantly help other students achieve anything they believe they can do. We talk about how perseverance and a positive attitude will take them to many places in life where they can be successful!

My Project

I believe when students are exposed to the resources the Galaxy tablets will provide, it will enhance their love for learning. There are apps to encourage students with speech problems to write. Students can speak into the microphone and it will play back their speech correctly, so they can hear their mistakes. It also, turns their talking into written text so they can use it to write. I would download multiple free children's fiction and nonfiction books so they could have different types of books to read and listen to in literacy stations. The students could use various puppet and recording apps to retell stories and it would give me a way to vary my assessments of the students as well as keeping them engaged in learning. Students will use the tablets several times daily to complete activities during Literacy stations, Math stations, phonics and writing development. I can use the tablets in small groups, whole group setting and during interaction with parents.

I want all my students to be given the same advantages to learn and be successful!

Every student will have the opportunity to grow through use of this technology. Special education students in my classroom can gain confidence by using this tool to help them accomplish their goals. It would engage all my students in various ways. It would help me communicate to my students and families who speak other languages.
