I teach first grade at a public elementary school that serves students in preschool through fifth grade. My school is dedicated to inspiring students to achieve excellence in academics, citizenship, and character. Our motto is, “Whatever it takes our kids are worth it”!
Each year my students come to school eager to learn and grow with an enthusiasm that brightens every day.
First grade is such an exciting and fun grade to teach. At this age, students are learning to explore the world around them through reading, writing, and math strategies. Our day is packed full of stories, hands-on activities, and cooperative learning experiences.
In my classroom, I strive to create an environment that is safe, loving, and acceptable. I work hard to ensure that all students are given the opportunity to learn and be successful to the best of their ability. My students are hard workers and motivated to be the best they can be!
My Project
A classroom carpet is an essential component of any first grade classroom. This requested A Place for Everyone carpet will be utilized several times throughout each school day for activities such as calendar, whole group reading and math instruction, hands-on learning activities, cooperative learning activities, and story time. Bringing students together for “carpet time” helps build classroom cooperation and community as well as aids in keeping students engaged and focused.
The colored blocks of this particular carpet will help my first graders manage personal space and therefore assist in classroom management during valuable instructional time.
My students will make the most of this carpet as they use it daily to learn and explore. They will appreciate having this clean, comfortable, and colorful addition to our classroom.
