My Students
My chickadees are a group of seven to eight year old sweeties that love learning! The students in my classroom are entrusted in my care, and I strive to give them the best education possible.
The students are currently in a first grade ICT classroom.
Our students have disabilities that range from emotional disturbance to speech and language impaired. The school is located in Queens, NY. Our school is considered a Title 1 school of low economic status. These students overcome things that many adults would not be able to, and I admire their resilience.
Our kids are largely school-dependent, meaning that they rely on us in all areas. School is a safe and consistent place for my students, and I want to make sure that I help them feel prepared for learning every day. Our public school in New York City works extremely hard to provide each child with a wonderful learning experience to make sure they never realize their school is being impacted by budget cuts. Because of these budget cuts, our school can no longer provide necessary materials for our First grade classroom. So, I have turned to Donors Choose to seek your help!
My Project
NYC plans to reopen schools in September on a hybrid schedule. I would like to make bags with leveled books in them that the students can take home to practice their reading while at home. Most of my students do not have the necessary technology needed to learn online. Therefore, I want to give them tangible resources.
I truly want my students to feel confident, smart, and know they can do anything.
I would love to instill the joy of reading at this young age! Please help me to do so!
