My Students

Do you remember struggling to read when you were younger? Technology provides students with the opportunity to read more than just paper books.

I have a class of 21 enthusiastic first graders in an urban school district.

Our school is small and we lack many of the technological resources that other schools have. My students come to school excited about learning every day. They have a genuine thirst for knowledge.

My Project

Providing my students with eBook Readers, to use during their center time, will help spark their love of reading while giving them the opportunity to learn how to use technology. Although a hard copy of a book is wonderful, there is also the need to store books. Students will have an endless supply of books in various genres. Those who are learning to read will also have the ability to listen to the books.

Books are the windows to the world.

My students will have access to more books using an eBook Reader. This will make a difference because funding is not available to increase the classroom library. Students will also be able to read books on their level. As their proficiency level increases, we will be able to find books that match their strengths and interests. They will be able to transfer this knowledge base into other curricular areas as well.
