My first grade kiddos live in the country-side of Waimea where they are surrounded by hills, Maunakea and farming. Most of the students have parents who attended the school themselves. My students are always excited and eager to enter the classroom.
Our classroom is built upon shared values and differences.
The students enter the classroom ready to explore new ideas and transfer the skills they have learned previously to deepen their education and experiences. My classroom is not ran by me, but my future leaders.
My Project
It's becoming more common in schools that extra curricular activities such art are being pulled, discontinued or no longer being funded. The result is teachers digging into their own pockets to fund their own art projects in the classroom. The paints will be used for seasonal art projects, the paint dots will have multiple uses as art as well as in their reading word work center. The most unique material that will be utilized is the people colored crayons as I want my students to have the ability to illustrate themselves as closely as possible instead of only having the choice of brown, light brown or peach as their options.
Art has multiple mediums where one can explore their own creativity and imagination.
In my classroom I value extra curricular activities as well as the arts. These art supplies will give my students the opportunity to become better artists.
