25 active first graders who are eager to share their learning! My busy classroom is where students are encouraged to move, share and work together. No longer are students completing worksheets and sitting in rows, but instead collaborating to become the problem solvers of today.
My classroom is filled with 25 busy, active boys and girls.
We are a first year Expeditionary Learning school where students collaborate together to: solve problems, think, fail, succeed, learn and grow. We are a CREW of students who practice our 7 Habits of Character (courage, respect, contribution, integrity, perseverance, collaboration and compassion) as much as we practice our academics. We believe in hands on team work where we support each other as we work hard to learn.
My Project
First grade 6 and 7 year old boys and girls are busy. These much needed Hokki Stools will allow my students to work together and think while getting to "wiggle". My students do their best reading, writing, math, technology and thinking when they can move. I have changed my classroom environment so that students can have space on the floor, tables at different heights to allow for sitting on the floor, standing or sitting in chairs. These Hokki Stools will allow for more movement and additional options during the school day for my active students.
Students need to move.
No longer can we put worksheets in front of them while they sit in a traditional chair in a row of desks. Students of today have changed. These Hokki Stools will allow my students to move and become the critical thinkers the world needs. My students need space to be creative and collaborate with each other. The Hokki Stools allow my students to be the busy, active learners I know they are.
