The way our students learn and the learning demands have changed significantly.

We need to keep up, but more importantly, we need to bring the innovation into our classrooms and facilitate these opportunities.

My students are an amazing group of six and seven year olds!!

They love learning and every day is an adventure for them. My students thrive off of the amount of choices in our classroom, and they love hands-on, collaborative projects. The students also love the technology that is currently in our classroom, therefore, I know they will be thrilled to be more engaged with more technical opportunities. Your support in this project can make this happen and help assist us in meeting the demands of the more technical world we are living in.

My Project

With the addition of six new Chromebooks, my classroom design will become more suitable for the 21st century learner. The Chromebooks will be used to allow students to collaborate on projects while also enhancing their digital literacy. This will be a strong foundation for their digital literacy and help them be successful in the future. Through this project, we would be giving students a head start towards becoming true 21st century learners. First graders are very tech-savvy and we need to give them opportunities now.

Giving these students more opportunities to communicate through digital means will better enhance their learning experience.

The opportunities to incorporate pen pals and digital creations are endless. Students already use online programs like Renaissance Learning, Teach Your Monster to Read and Brainpop to enhance the curriculum that we already provide. Having the technology to make this more readily available will offer more choices in my lessons. I want to incorporate the use of Google docs, Google slides and Google sheets while the children are working independently at centers. Having more technology available can make this happen. I am ecstatic at the thought of the many new opportunities and variety of learning styles that I will be able to reach with the availability of these digital tools.
