First Graders and the Next Generation Science Standards!
My students need science materials including a butterfly house, small pots and soil, and chicken feeders to support our units for the Next Generation Science Standards!
This project is part of the Black History Month celebration because it supports a Black teacher or a school where the majority of the students are Black.
My Students
My first graders love to ask questions and discover their own answers with the support from their classmates and teachers.
My students are curious, creative and love to learn.
Most of my students come from low-income households, but this doesn't hold them back from wanting to learn. Some of my students speak another language other than English as their first language, but all of my students enjoy working together as a family to ask questions and discover their answers.
My Project
My students will use these science materials to build on what we have already started to learn from the Next Generation Science Standards. They will use the monarch materials to watch their own monarch caterpillars transform before their eyes, and the chicken materials will help us with our hatching unit! The books with help us tie our science learning into our literacy lessons.
These materials will support our hands-on learning in the classroom.
My students need materials that will engage them and leave them wanting more. They will enhance our science learning through our literacy instruction.
