Mrs. C. from Saint Louis MO is requesting technology through DonorsChoose, the most trusted classroom funding site for teachers.
See what Mrs. C. is requestingMy students need 7 Kindle Fire tablets to support classroom learning. We will use these tablets EVERYDAY to become better readers.

I have very reluctant readers in my room. By offering them opportunities to read using technology, I hope to capture their love of reading.
Our school receives 100% free lunch in the heart of the city.
Most of my students came to school with no supplies and reading well below grade level. Even though they have experienced more hardship in their young lives than most have even imagined, I see a wonder and happiness in them when they come to school. They want to grow, learn. They are funny, sweet, silly, caring, and smart! I want to harness their sense of wonder and fuel their passion for getting even smarter. Being in a high poverty school is challenging. I was provided a room with desks and chalkboards. Everything else- from pencils, and copy paper to a projector and document camera- was provided by me and some of the caring teachers in the building.
My students will use these tablets everyday... and I mean EVERYDAY! I already purchased 5 for the room and an additional 7 would mean so much to facilitating differentiated instruction. My goal is eventually to have enough tablets to have all of my kids assigned their own. We will use these tablets for Razkids, Spelling City, Mobymax, Starfall, doing research for science projects, and much more.
Having tablets for most of the students in the room will allow me to pull students for one on one and small group instruction, while I know other students are actively engaged in lessons that I have specifically picked for them.
I have seen growth since we started using Razkids in the computer lab, but we only get to go once per week. This will give them access to those programs that increase their learning everyday. Thank you for viewing my project.
