First Grade Students Love Reading Series!

Help me give my students more copies of their favorite first grade beginning chapter books.

My Students

Our students come from diverse populations. Many are from broken homes, some are English Language Learners and a few are Children in Transit... but all of them are loved and valued at our elementary school! We are a Title One school, focused on not just educating our students to achieve high goals but helping them meet their social and emotional needs as well.

Our current 1st grades are becoming voracious readers, needing for more copies of their favorites, such as Katie Woo, Mr. Putter and Tabby and Rocky and Daisy!

We have four first grade classes at our elementary school and each spring they tackle the challenge of reading beginning chapter books. Each week, they search for copies of their beloved first series only to find a handful still in the library. I would love to provide them more copies to keep them engaged.

I have added many new books to our library over the past 3 years, but haven't been able to keep up due to our shrinking budgets. Our kiddos deserve more.

My Project

Our First grade students have moved past reading Pete the Cat and Piggy and Elephant favorites and have moved into beginning chapter books. This time of the year I can't keep enough copies on the shelves for them to check out!

Our copies of Mr. Putter and Tabby, Katie Woo and Rocky and Daisy are flying off the shelves!

Our school library desperately needs more copies to keep up with our budding first grade readers! We are requesting more copies of their favorite First grade beginning chapter books.

Through these books our students are learning to identify a problem, determine the reason and find the solution. Our First graders are decoding and it is AWESOME!
