My Students

Students in the "highest poverty" category, often do not have opportunities to follow their dreams. I am all about making the impossible possible and their dreams for the future an obtainable reality. My students come from countries around the world. They have traveled from Africa, Asia, South America, and across North America, as children of refugees and families that move frequently, due to low-income earning ability. The unique and difficult experiences of my students are what make my students some of the most powerful and determined young minds you could ever hope to meet.

My students have experienced adversity.

In our classroom, we rise above it. My students are resilient and brilliant. They have incredible leadership abilities. They help each other and understand the power of teamwork. We build a classroom community and care for each other. When one student succeeds, they all celebrate the success achieved by their classmate. These bonds are forged with time, shared tribulation, and the universal truth that every single student in our class has enormous potential.

My Project

Few authors and illustrators capture the imagination and wonder of young readers like Eric Carle.

These illustrious illustrations and captivating stories will encourage both ready readers and reluctant readers to rev up their skills.

When I was a young child Eric Carle books were my favorite. I knew I was learning from the stories - kindness, counting, colors, animal names, spelling patterns, and how to tell time. Reflecting upon why I loved this author more than any other in my youth I’ve realized that Eric Carle’s whimsical world of illustrations created a safe space where I could feel confident learning to read at my own pace.

This projects provides hardback copies of more than 20 Eric Carle books, both in full size and miniature editions. Some of my favorites include The Tiny Seed, The Very Quiet Cricket, and Pancakes, Pancakes! In addition to these I’ve added a few supplemental books for this early readers literature library including Eating The Alphabet, and Planting a Rainbow.

Please consider adding to our library with a donation. Each book is a treasured world to be shared.
