This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.

My Project

Join me in creating an engaging, hands-on learning environment where students can build on their math skills, grow as mathematicians, and use academic language. This environment will allow students to gather with peers, engage in conversation and use manipulatives to build number sense and support stem activities. The ongoing conversation will support group work and allow English Language learners to continue to grow as scholars.

Our room follows the workshop model which consists of students gathering in the meeting area for a math warm up, number talks and teaching points.

Students work with peers and take charge of their own learning, apply math skills and tools to add, subtract, and decompose numbers. These tools will help the young mathematician to solve real life scenario problems while building number skills, and applying mathematical practice. LET'S BRING MATH TO LIFE!!!
