My Students
Young children learn on a much deeper level through hands-on experiences. My students need to have these hands-on experiences in order to better understand the math topics that we teach in 1st grade.
My students attend a charter school where the students are taught through a hands-on, interactive teaching model with the students actively involved and immersed in their differentiated learning.
My class is made up of an inclusive mix of students including students with special needs, general education students and students that are gifted.
My Project
My students need various math manipulatives to help them understand specific math topics that are taught in 1st grade! By having these resources in my classroom, my students will be able to see up-close what a cylinder is (not just through pictures). They will be able to show me the number 452 using place value blocks instead of just explaining it to me. They will be able to learn and explore in small groups, instead of just having to watch one student show them. The students will be able to use hands-on activities to really understand what they are learning about. These manipulatives will really help my students understand the math topics on a much deeper level and help them remember these skills for years to come!
