This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
My Project
First grade is a time full of exploration and discovery. In math, balances are used to show equations and help students understand that the equal side means that the amount on one side is the same as the other. For science, balances are used when we are observing the properties of matter.
Currently, my classroom has 2 balance scales, which aren't enough for 18 students.
I would love to have enough balance scales for my students to be able to work in pairs during their learning. The children are so excited to use different tools, and having enough scales means everyone can get a turn trying it.
