My Project
This project has been created with my first grade students in mind. With each new year comes new needs for materials. This project has a combination of necessary teaching tools and necessary classroom supplies. I will be teaching math this year to two classes. This year we are departmentalized in first grade. With that being said, I am in need of new math manipulatives and materials that are easily accessible for both classes. I will be preparing the same lessons to both classes and will be required to provide materials separately.
Manipulatives are crucial in math education because they offer students a hands-on, concrete way for students to grasp abstract mathematical concepts.
Students can develop deeper understanding of mathematical ideas which leads them to improved problem solving skills. By creating an environment where students can understand mathematics more concretely they are able to gain more confidence in math. Having the confidence in mathematics will make them better engage and love to learn.
My students deserve to learn in a manner that allows them to grow, thrive, and gain confidence in their own learning. Teaching first grade is my passion and providing my students with the necessary tools to learn is my goal each year! Please help me provide my students this year with the necessary materials to learn how to count money, use tens frame, a digital clock for number sense, and chain links for us to measure and count by tens in a more tactile way!
