My Students

I have the pleasure of teaching a first grade classroom full of extremely motivated learners, despite the hardships they face. My students live in an underserved community on the south side of Chicago. Our school serves 99% low-income students.

They are very curious and love to explore through learning.

They are a very inspirational group of young people and deserve to have the best education possible. Each of my students have the potential to be contributing member of society, and need to be exposed to as much content as possible to prosper.

My Project

The pencil bags will help my students organize their materials. The set of drawers will be used to store work stations that are used to individualize instruction. The laminating sheets and sheet protectors will be used to create work stations. The dry erase markers will be used for the students to practice on their whiteboards during whole group instruction.

Math manipulatives help make abstract concepts concrete for children.

Manipulates serve as evidence of the work that taking place on paper. This allows children to work through problems, and serves as a way for them to check their work. It also serves as a more engaging way to learn. The more engaged and excited students are, the more they will learning they will retain. Using manipulatives in a fundamental tool in primary math education!
