Celebrating Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month
This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
My students are in a Two Way Dual language first grade classroom. The students that I have the privilege of working with come from a low economic status with about 73% poverty rate, however, this does not prevent our students from excelling. Kids come to school eager to learn and have the opportunity to be in a classroom where they are supported, encouraged, and most importantly loved. We set no limit to what we believe our students are capable of achieving.
Students come to our district from all over because they know that we are a district that believes in community, respect, and equity.
Students get to work on developing their skills in the classroom and are given opportunities to explore with hands-on activities that allow them to use their creativity and imagination.
My Project
Our classroom is in need of a new rug where students can come together as a whole for community building. It helps create a friendly and warm environment as student get to work together and bond with one another. This also helps create a positive atmosphere for the classroom where students can feel safe and comfortable with their peers.
It is a great place for students to collaborate, share, and explore with their peers.
Students can feel comfortable coming together as we build community skills to grow and help another. I have seen the positive impact of having a place where students feel like they can all come together as learners to support one another in their learning.
