This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.

My Students

At Desert Mirage we are a hard working, outgoing, inquisitive first graders! Our goal for the end of the year is for every first grader to meet or exceed their individual reading, writing and math goal.

We are dedicated first graders.

We are at a wide variety of skill levels in our academics. The students come from diverse cultural and socioeconomic backgrounds. 71% of our students qualify for free or reduced lunches. Many students come from multifamily households. Due to these factors our students lack the access to technology. Currently the only technology the students have access to in the classroom, for their independent use, is one 8 year old desktop computer. The students are craving multiple learning outlets for their academic curiosity.

My Project

The students will use the 6 tablets to research their writing, practice reading fluency, and basic math skills. The tablets will be equipped with educational apps to help meet individual and first grade goals. Students will also be able to access educational websites, such as, MobyMax, Sumdog, Tenmarks, and Xtramath. The tablets can be used in small groups or by individual students. They can be used throughout the day during reading, writing and math.

The tables will help engage students in their learning and help them meet their individual goals.

The tablets will allow the first graders to explore new materials and topics. The first graders will also see there are others out their who are their educational cheerleaders.
