My Students
I always tell my students if they can think it, they can say it. If they can say it, they can write it! But sometimes, they get stuck trying to think of an idea and aren't sure where to start.
The students in my classroom are as diverse in academic levels as they are in culture.
Our Title I, inner-city school is "home" to almost 1,200 students with a multitude of ethnicities. Many of the children in my class are English Language Learners from diverse backgrounds. Despite any differences they have, they are ready and eager to learn!
My Project
In order to meet my students' needs with new Common Core Standards and to keep writing enjoyable, I am requesting materials that will not only enhance their writing but also develop a love for writing. Kids love to write especially when they have a different medium they can use.
The "Ready to Write Prompt Box" will provide the students ideas and strategies to extend their writing. The "Writing Activity Stations" will help them generate ideas for writing. The "Research and Report Writing" will help the students read non-fiction selections and share information. All of these resources support our Common Core Standards for writing and literacy. Using these learning activities, I want to offer the students a wide variety of activities designed to be motivating and meaningful.
Since the Common Core Standards require writing across all content areas, it is more important than ever that students develop strong writing skills.
High quality writing resources are essential to provide a variety of mediums that encourage writing. The key to writing is inspiration and engagement! These writing resources will provide the spark my students need.
