My students need word, phonics, math and reading puzzles to challenge their critical thinking skills while working with the skills that they need to master first grade.
This project is part of the Black History Month celebration because it supports a Black teacher or a school where the majority of the students are Black.
My Students
Have you ever been challenged by a puzzle that you had to solve? Can you say that you are a better thinker because you had to figure it out? Puzzles can be very challenging and require critical thinking skills to solve. Our students need to begin developing these skills as soon as possible.
The students at my school come from very low-income homes.
With 90% of our students living below the poverty line, it's critical that we offer the highest level of education for them while they are here at school.
These children deserve the chance to learn just like any other child who my live above the poverty line. They thrive on having things to hold in their hands and manipulate in guide them in their learning. Our school is striving to give them exactly what they need but with funding being tight, there is no room for fun resources such as puzzles.
My Project
We need word, sounds, math and reading puzzles to challenge their critical thinking skills while working with the skills that they need to master first grade. With these puzzles, not only will my students be able to become independent learners, but they will also develop critical thinking skills while doing so.
These puzzles will be used during small group instruction. Students will be able to use them while I am working with groups of three or four students on their daily lessons in both Math and Language. They will be able to master some of their critical thinking skills and practice some of the standardized skills that are necessary for moving on to the next grade level.
Every student that I come in to contact with has the desire to learn and become good at what they are working on.
By donating to this project, you will be allowing every student that walks through my classroom door, this year and for years to come, the opportunity to have fun while learning. Your generosity will encourage each of them to become independent, critical thinkers.
