Help me give my students a chance to learn about gardening! We are preparing for a field trip to a community garden. In order to prepare ourselves, we are learning about plants and how they grow!
This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
My Project
In June, my students have the opportunity to go to the Harlem Grown Garden. This is an amazing community garden that provides students with an opportunity to learn about farm animals (chickens), hydroponic gardening, and traditional gardening.
In order to prepare ourselves for our field trip, we are learning about plants and plant life-cycles.The best way to do this is through first-hand experience.
By growing lettuce in a hydroponic garden, we are able to explore the questions: Do plants need soil to successfully grow? Why do you think plants can successfully grow with just water?
We are looking forward to starting our own garden within our classroom using the supplies in the cart!
