Celebrate Black Teachers and Students

This project is part of the Black History Month celebration because it supports a Black teacher or a school where the majority of the students are Black.

My Project

I am a first year, first-grade teacher who is trying to create a positive learning environment for my students. As a first year teacher, creating a classroom from scratch is difficult, but this project will support not only my classroom but also myself as a first year teacher.

These materials will allow me to set up a classroom that is inviting and positive for each student that walks through the door.

These items will give my students organization, supplies, and seating around the classroom that caters to each of their diverse needs. My goal for these items is to give my students a classroom where they feel safe, loved, and respected. My students are so loving and eager to learn and I want to create an environment that supports them.

Each of the things I have requested have a special place in my classroom. The rug and stools will be a source of flexible seating for my students so they can have different places to go as they continue their work. The mailbox, different plastic containers, and mesh bags will be available for students to store their work and supplies in an organized manner where they can always find it. The desk chair is to allow me to have a place to sit as I interact with my students. Finally, the lamp is to give my students warm lighting in the classroom they will be in all day to help with their little eyes.
