My Students
Over 50 percent of the fastest growing jobs are science, technology, or math related. As an educator I want to lay the foundation for these skill sets. I want my students to love learning and engage in problem solving. Help me meet my goal!
I teach 26 diverse first grade students.
Many of my students travel from all of the world so their parents can attend University in the United States. They are eager to learn and discover the world around them. Their parents are doing everything they can to set their students up for success. In my community there is a strong passion for education.
My Project
It is my goal to lay the foundation for STEM education. I want my students to have many opportunities to problem solve using engineering and science practices. The Real World STEM Problem Solving Kit will help my students with this goal. This kit includes materials to solve problems such as "build a boat that holds four people for 20 seconds." The kit provides the materials. I teach science and math everyday, but engineering is hard to teach when you do not have materials. Please help me acquire those much needed materials have also asked for materials to build circuits using batters and LED lights. I also asked for Hex Bugs so my students can ask questions about their movement patterns and start to wonder about robotics.
My students will become higher level thinkers through problem solving activities.
They will be able to communicate effectively with one another through team work. They will gain exposure to engineering through real world problem solving. My students will love building and working together to solve a problem. This will help my students prepare for college, the work field, and help them become global citizens.
