Celebrate Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month

This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.

My first grade students are ready to learn - and ready to Teach! Our school is located in the center of a high-need community with a very diverse population where the students have much to share with each other.

The students of our school are always particularly interested in how they can help our planet. From recycling programs to informational campaigns, they very much enjoy doing their part. This project is a new and exciting venture but, unfortunately, we lack the proper supplies to execute our plan.

With the help of donations, we have the opportunity to learn and teach in a media that will be entirely new to our school. We are in need of a digital camcorder and accessories to implement our plan to create an Earth Day related documentary that we will share with other classrooms in an effort to better educate students about their part in the care of our environment. This experience will not only keep students engaged in science and social studies, but will also make the learning more meaningful to them as they interpret the information researched to the camera.

We intend for this project to be the first of many documentaries at our school and, with your help, we can make it happen and possibly encourage other schools to become more creative with their projects in an effort to keep education hands-on and fascinating. Your donation will make a great difference and we appreciate your consideration.
