Help me give my students Keva planks! This summer I had the chance to visit the Fleet Science Center in San Diego! I was inspired by the structures children were building there!
I have an amazing class of 22 first graders! We are the only first grade in our school. In fact, we are the only first grade in our town. I have the special opportunity to teach them this year!
First graders are hardworking and very energetic!
They love listening to stories, playing games, and learning about science. Our days are spent practicing reading, doing math, writing stories, and playing. The children also practice important social skills. The children are learning important life skills every day!
My Project
This summer I learned about how to use Keva planks with children at the Fleet Science Center in San Diego. Children at the science center were given building challenge cards and then they set off to make amazing structures.
Children learned how to plan, design, build, assess and rebuild while working on the challenges.
Children were also given the opportunity to free build with the planks. The blocks are simple, but they lead to many creative buildings! The engineering that was happening while the children were working was impressive! I would like to bring these great planks into the classroom for the children to use during STEM time.
