This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.

My Students

My students are amazing four year olds for the US and Mexico. Most are Spanish speaking and bilingual students experiencing their first year of school. Our classroom is a bilingual prekindergarten class located on the US/ Mexico border in a town that has been ranked “ The Poorest city in America” but that is not what you will find in this class. You will find students who are eager to learn and excited for their first year of schooling. We take pride in creating an environment that gets students excited for learning to create a strong starting point to becoming lifelong learners. These students are sponges for learning and come in everyday with the willingness and determination to learn and succeed.

My Project

The Teaching Cash Register and the Fresh Mart grocery store will be used to help students develop an understanding of financial literacy by helping them connect real life experiences to learning opportunities. By using the Pretend Play Money students will go from being simple observers of a grocery store experience to active participants will allow them to understand the interactions between costumer and consumer that will benefit them well into their adult lives.

My Prekindergarten students will use their natural instincts to play that will lead them into opportunities to cultivate rich learning experiences that will translate into future , productive members of society.
