Celebrating Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month
This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
My Students
My students are amazing four year-olds from the US and Mexico. Most are Spanish speaking or bilingual students. Our classroom is a bilingual pre-kindergarten class located on the Texas/Mexico border in what has been ranked the "Poorest City in America," but that is not what you will find in this class. You will find students who are eager to learn and excited about their first year of schooling. We take pride in creating an environment that gets students excited for learning to create a strong starting point to becoming lifelong learners. These students are sponges for learning and come in every day with the willingness and determination to learn and succeed.
My Project
Please help give my students a Human Body interactive doll to help in our human body unit. Learners young and old need to be able to see scientific concepts in order to grasp them fully. For years I have shown online pictures, books, and drawing to help students understand the parts of the human body. By having this tangible doll with removable organs as a visual aid I foresee my students being more engaged and the lesson being more effective. The aprons will be used to create interactive body part aprons to make the lesson even more effective and engaging.
