Our students live in a high poverty and high crime city. In their daily lives, they face numerous challenges and often are at a disadvantage. Despite their hurdles, our students work hard to achieve a high school diploma not only to graduate, but to enter college. Many are the first in their families to even earn a high school diploma. They have great drive and determination. My students have a never-give-up attitude and constantly strive for success both in and out of the classroom. Many students who has already graduated are in the area and succeeding in life just due to the lessons they learned while in our school.
The building I teach at does not have a gym and requires our students to go to walk across city streets in the elements to have any gym time.
This cuts down on the amount of time they have for physical education. Often, there are district wide assemblies or pep rallies and we must instruct phys ed in the classroom. The use of indoor activity supplies, the students will more easily participate in an appropriate physical education activities
My students are ecstatic about the Philadelphia Eagles winning Super Bowl 52! Many of my students are asking to play football. The footballs that we have are old and the laces are worn off. The students have trouble gripping, throwing and catching the ball. These new football would be awesome for my students.
Teaching the students to throw a spiral is difficult using a ball without laces or with worn laces.
If I was able to get 6 new footballs the students would be able to better learn how to throw and spiral. As will as using the balls for games and for station work during class. My students would really love to have some brand new footballs!
