Celebrate Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month

This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.

My Project

As a new teacher, I’m excited to build a classroom that feels safe, supportive, and full of possibilities for every student who walks through the door. To do that, I’m asking for your help in creating a space where students feel comfortable, valued, and ready to learn.

One way I hope to meet both the educational and emotional needs of my students is by offering flexible seating—like the cozy floor cushions included in this project.

These will allow students to choose where and how they learn best, which promotes focus, independence, and a sense of ownership in their education.

I’m also hoping to create a shared meeting space with a classroom rug, where we can come together each day for lessons, discussions, and community-building. This rug will be the heart of our classroom—a place for connection, reflection, and learning.

In addition, I want to ensure that all students have access to the basic supplies they need to succeed, including pencils, markers, and other essential materials. These items may seem small, but they make a big difference in helping students feel prepared and cared for.
