This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
My Project
My 5th graders are growing into thoughtful, curious readers, but many are still waiting to fall in love with books. With First Chapter Friday, I’ll read aloud the first chapter of an exciting, high interest book each week to spark curiosity, build anticipation, and help every student find “their” book.
This project will help me build a rich classroom library filled with diverse voices, coming-of-age stories, and books that explore important topics like racial justice, identity, empathy, and resilience.
I want my students to see themselves in the books they read and also discover new perspectives that broaden their understanding of the world.
From fantasy to realistic fiction, these books are chosen to hook even the most reluctant readers and start meaningful conversations. Your support will help me create an inclusive, inspiring literacy experience where every student finds a book that speaks to them.
