My Students
My students are a diverse population of learners. Even with all their differences, they amaze me with their kindness and ability to help each other and their community. They strive for excellence in all they do and are excited to learn each day. Our school is only one year old, and even with the lack of resources that many schools in our area have, my students' positivity show in their enthusiasm for learning.
My students embody creativity, out-of-the-box thinking, and perseverance in the face of challenges.
The curiosity they bring to school makes me smile each day.
My Project
"When am I ever going to use this in real life?," said almost every student ever. My students need to make connections between their learning in math class and life after school. They need motivation on why learning each topic is necessary for success. Students make connections by creating and experiencing, not by being told.
My students will use Kindle Fires to DISCOVER the connections between mathematics and life after school.
They will use apps such as Flipgrid to create videos to justify their thinking. They will use Goosechase to go on a scavenger hunt to find 3 examples of right angles in the school and be able to explain why they are necessary for the stability of the building. Students will also use Kahoot, Discovery Education, and many more.
