Nine and ten year old students have so many creative ideas and opinions. They need the outlet and a safe place to share and follow through on their goals and thoughts. As their teacher, it is my job to help them succeed in their goals and to give them necessary tools to succeed...and fail.. and ultimately learn from their mistakes.
All of my students live on a military base.
They are constantly having to deal with their parents being in the field or deploying. School is a constant for them and I want to do everything that I can to make school exciting and inviting for my students. We are a fourth grade classroom who supports each other and encourages each other to do our best everyday!
My Project
Using a tablet to code a robot requires higher order thinking and perseverance! We have 2 Dash Robots and 1 Sphero Mini Robot but only 1 iPad which makes it hard to give students adequate time to code. By having more tablets, more students will be able to use the robots and dive deeper into coding. Technology encourages children to think critically.
Technology will help to make a difference in my students' learning.
Along with coding the robots, the tablets will be used for math practice, various educational apps, research and more. The usage of tablets in the classroom will be extremely beneficial for my students and will encourage students to learn in a different way.
