My Students
Every day I have the awesome opportunity to teach some of the most amazing and hardworking students that I have ever met. I teach high school students with Autism. I am always amazed at their unique way of learning and I am constantly trying to come up with innovative ways to best serve their specific learning needs. My school's mission is to help all students have successful post-secondary lives by teaching them necessary life skills. We encourage students to hone daily living and work skills through community-based learning and through the utilization of technology.
My Project
The Amazon 7 tablets requested will serve as an alternative way to encourage interaction and social development in the classroom. These tablets will allow students to benefit from a variety of apps that will allow a personalized approach to learning and socialization. Students can benefit from story apps that can aid them with transitions, routines and meeting new people.
Students having access to these tablets will give them the freedom to learn independently.
A direct touch screen easily enables students with fine motor challenges to easily access apps and other content. The guided access feature on the tablets allows the teacher to filter age-appropriate content, set screen limits and set educational goals.
More than three‑quarters of students from low‑income households
Data about students' economic need comes from the National Center for Education Statistics, via our partners at MDR Education. Learn more
