My Students

Barger Academy is a fine arts magnet school in Chattanooga, TN. Students get to attend music, drama, dance and art all as part of the weekly instruction. My students come from a variety of backgrounds but all come from a lower socioeconomic group. My students have many needs that get in the way of being successful. My class is one-to-one which means each student has a Chromebook to use for the entire school year. Thank you for any help you can give my students to help them succeed!

My Project

Our district has mandated writing workshop in addition to the 90 minute literacy block. One of the biggest steps in this writing program is to actually publish student work. My classroom currently must share a printer with the other 4th grade classes. Yes, 3 teachers and 79 students share one printer.

Having a printer in our classroom would help us publish student work.

As students finish their writing projects, having a printer in our room would allow students to quickly publish their work. This would help us take students' work and share it with a more public audience and have that work look professional! This will help boost students confidence as they grow and develop their writing skills.
