My Project
My incredible third graders range in diversity and ability. Some are Autistic, and many receive special education services. We are a Title I school, and all of my students are from low-income households, so they all receive free breakfast and lunch every day.
The latest brain research suggests that simply changing a few things makes a HUGE difference in student learning.
I spent my summer learning about the research behind "Building Thinking Classrooms" and learning how to implement this amazing way of teaching and learning. In addition to some changes I've already made regarding furniture, I'd like to change the colors in our classroom to calming pastels, so I'm requesting paper that aligns with that research. Adding a few new books will freshen the classroom library, a reward jar will keep us motivated, felt furniture pads will add to a calming atmosphere, clay will be the perfect brain breaks between learning times, and some basic supplies will help keep our classroom organized and cozy.
