My students are always eager to learn and read. They enjoy learning and I enjoy finding ways to make the learning fun and engaging for them. The students in my school are from a low income and very rural area. Most students do not have a lot or even access to a lot in our small community. The students know the challenges facing them since we are in such a high poverty area.
As my students teacher I am always looking for ways to motivate them to want to do better in my classroom and in all other areas of their schooling.
I teach all of the 5th grade students in our school. We switch classes in order to better prepare them for the transition to middle school next year. We are mid-way through the school year and I am even starting to think and look ahead to what will be needed to finish the current year strong, and start next years even stronger.
My Project
We are always using some of the same basic supplies in order to do our work. We do Guided Reading Groups in my English Language Arts class. In order to be effective with these small groups we use a lot of post-it notes and copy paper. The items are always being used in order to make copies of books for my students to read on their own individual level.
My students strive to be successful in everything that they do.
Sometimes coming from a small rural community it is hard for parents to get the necessary supplies to allow their child to be successful in school. I always like to keep basic supplies on hand for when the need arises that a child needs something.
