Fine Motor Skills

My Project

Our young children have missed out on so many activities due to Covid. They didn’t have the chance to have play dates with children. Instead, they were isolated at home with their parents. Most of my kindergarteners have not learned how to socialize with other children their age and are lacking both fine and gross motor skills. I will need to get my children caught both socially and improve their fine and gross motor skills by having them work on engaging STEM activities. All of the activities will improve their fine motor skills because they all are centered around the kiddos using their fingers with smaller items they have to snap and fit together. They will also allow my students to use their imagination to create and engineer structures to play with, which is great social interaction for them. An example of the items helping with fine motor skills would be the marble run. This is an item that the students will have to connect different items together to engineer a device for the marble to run down. The children will have to use their little fingers to snap and unsnap the different pieces together, which will improve their fine motor skills. The supply caddies will be used and trays will be used to store the items, along with art supplies I have already purchased. These items will be on the playground and in the classroom. My children will use these items during recess time or during center time.
