The students I work with are in a separate regional based program (ID Mild 1). These students come from all over the district. My program is for students in grades K-2. The classroom has a maximum capacity of 12 students, due to the support needed in helping them access the Common Core Curriculum. All of my students are receiving Special Education services and have varying disabilities (Autism, Developmental Delays, Hearing Impaired, ID Mild, Epilepsy, ID Moderate, etc.).
My students are extremely hard working and their positive attitudes can bring sunshine to anybody's day.
They are challenged on a daily basis, beyond what most can imagine. However, they do not let their individual struggles get in the way of their desire to learn.
My Project
Boogie Boards will be used throughout the day as students practice their fine motor skills in writing numerals, alphabet letters, spelling words, drawing pictures, or when solving Math problems. These boards are easy to erase with just a click of a button at the top of the board. They are easy to store and take the hassle and expense out of locating a dry erase marker that still works. There will not be a need to purchase dry erase markers or waste paper. These boards are great for students with fine motor deficits because the pen glides smoothly across the board with minimal resistance.
Headphones will allow students to listen to audio books without distractions from the outside environment.
This may improve a students comprehension of a story as they are able to focus and become engaged. These headphones are fantastic since they fold up so nicely in their own individual bags. They also have an additional plug built in if two friends would like to listen to the same story.
