Celebrating Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month
This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
My Students
I am fortunate to work with an amazing group of children. Not only do I teach them the fundamentals but they teach me daily the importance of love and acceptance. All of my students fall under the umbrella of autism.
My students all have unique attributes that make them, them!
I wouldn't change them for the world. Some are a tad bit more severe than others and require different items in the class to improve their fine motor skills. Simply putting together a simple puzzle is difficult for them to achieve.
Every time I am asked what do I do, I simply reply.... I AM A TEACHER OF STUDENTS WITH AUTISM! I LOVE WHAT I DO AND WHAT THEY DO TO ME!
My Project
We take for granted the use of picking up a pencil or a simply buttoning a shirt. Many students who I have receive occupational therapy that assist with fine motor skills. Students who have special needs tend to need more assistance with these skills.
Items that we use on a daily basis can assist with building these skills that my students need.
Puzzles not only assist with memory but also being able to place into a designated area. Larger crayons allow them to color, just like their classmates. Word building puzzles not only better their grip but also improve their phonics skills.
