Hello! Thank you for taking the time to learn about my students and this project!
We have built this Donors Choose project to help with two primary objectives: building an engaging learning environment and providing us with new items for creative interventions!
As the school occupational therapist it is my job to help our students by providing environmental modifications and sensory supports to help students succeed in the classroom. Many of the items on this list, including wiggle cushions, kick bands, and light covers help alter sensory input within a child's learning environment. This allows them to better engage in instruction and grow academically. Other items like tongs, games, and coloring or writing utensils help me (the fine motor promoter!) encourage fine motor and social emotional skills that our students need to be successful in school and their community.
The students at our school never cease to amaze me with their kindness and willingness to grow. Our ultimate goal is always to help students become happy, healthy, and successful people within our community. This project can help us give them additional resources by creating an engaging learning environment and providing new intervention opportunities to explore and expand a variety of skills.
