My class is comprised of elementary students within the special education resource setting. The students have a wide range of ability levels and receive additional supports in the areas of reading, writing, math and social skills. They all spend the majority of their day in the general education setting but benefit from support in my classroom for part of the day.
My students work as in person learners in small grade level groups to reinforce and reteach skills to be successful in the general education setting.
We work in small groups in my classroom throughout the day. There are always students coming and going from my room. I work with the students on reading, writing, math and social skills. We work on remediation skills as well as grade level class work. Many of the students struggle with fine motor skills for their age and grade levels as well. The past two years have brought a lot of challenges and restrictions for my group. This has led to gaps in the students skills and abilities as well as, limited access to the materials that they would normally have.
My Project
These materials will be used to support students in my class with their fine motor skills. Many of my students have difficulties holding a pencil and using it to write. With the use of these pencil grips and larger pencils, my students will have an easier time holding their pencils to write. Their hand grip will be supported better allowing the students to practice their letter formation skills and writing.
With the use of the lined whiteboards, they will be able to use the lines to practice letter formation and spacing again and again.
These materials will be a great addition to the classroom in supporting the fine motor needs of my students.
