My Students
My students live on the south side of Chicago in the Englewood community. Despite the challenges in their community, my students are bright and eager to learn. I teach in an Instructional/Cluster program that serves students from 3 to 5 years of age who have disabilities. When given the necessary tools to be successful, my students meet and/or surpass the expectations placed upon them. My goal is to provide a warm, welcoming, and engaging learning environment so my students will thrive and reach their fullest potential.
My Project
Worksheets can be boring! The best way to teach preschoolers to write is to develop their fine motor skills by engaging them in fun activities that motivate and make learning fun.
Young children learn through play and from engaging in age-appropriate preschool activities.
Using puzzles, pattern blocks, and magnets are great tools to promote fine motor development in preschoolers. The more a child uses his or her fingers in activities that strengthen hand coordination the sooner they will develop skills such as: writing letters and numbers legibly without significant muscle fatigue, drawing, painting and cutting with scissors. These are skills they need for success in future grades.
The children in my classroom have significant developmental delays and require a learning environment that contains age-appropriate materials to promote optimal development.
Thank you in advance for helping to improve the quality of education for so many children in need.
