My Project
These items that are requested are to assist the students during their occupational therapy sessions. These tools and materials will help the students with their sensory integration needs as well as assist with improving fine motor skills for better handwriting abilities. Improved skills equal increased independence in the classroom setting.
The wobble stools allow the students the ability to wobble on a stool while they safely sit to complete functional tasks.
Furthermore, the ability to wobble assists students the ability to increase their level of alertness and focus during seated deskwork. Some seated deskwork tasks include fine motor work. Fine motor skills are the essence for completing handwriting tasks in the classroom setting. The fine motor games and materials will give the student's more opportunities to increase these skills to improve classroom independence. The handwriting materials will help make handwriting lessons more fun and these materials will be trialed, and if successful the therapist can recommend the items to the student's family for home practice ideas. Carryover is also important in supporting the children with special needs.
These materials will help with assisting to improve students with sensory integration needs, fine motor delays, and overall handwriting challenges in a fun and multi-sensory way. Thank you for your time and consideration.
