Fine Motor Fun For Daily Living

Help me give my students opportunities to build their fine motor skills as a prerequisit to early writing and functional skills.

My Project

The Letter Activity Center and the Color Sorting Kit provide students with the opportunity to practice the three prong pinscher grasp needed for writing. The Dough Mats provide students the opportunity to strengthen hand muscles while learning the composite lines needed to create letters.

The fun and functional activities will motivate students to want to do the activities without even knowing that they are practicing their fine motor skills.

These skills are essential for early writing and functional activities such as dressing and eating.

My students are special because every single one of them has a disability. They have Individualized Education Plans which focus on their individuals needs. They come to school already challenged and I would like to provide them with a fun activity to look forward to when they come to school. If they like the activity and actually participate in it, they will have practice in developing their skills without even knowing it. In addition, some of my students use communication devices as they are preverbal and fine motor skills are essential in order to use these devices efficiently.
