I teach a fun, active group of 25 second graders. They love to learn and work together. In second grade, we learn a lot of new skills every day. These students are eager to learn and apply their skills every day!
My students are on a variety of levels in the classroom.
They need engaging ways to practice the skills they are missing. My students that are reading above level need engaging ways to challenge their brains!
They need new and exciting experiences to keep them engaged in our curriculum. I like to provide them with experiences that will immerse them in the learning and teach them about the world we live in.
My Project
While working in second grade, I have noticed many students are struggling with their fine motor skills. These skills are necessary for the students to be successful with their handwriting. They need to grow and develop these skills.
Students don't struggle with handwriting because they don't want to do it well, it's because they don't have the prerequisite skills.
We need these items to start a designated time for the students to grow their fine motor skills and hand strength in a fun and engaging way. Second graders don't want to take time tracing letters. It's boring and they think it's too easy for them. These materials will give them a fun way to get the fine motor skills needed in order for them to improve their handwriting.
These materials will be used for our Fine Motor Friday time. This will be a time where the students are able to work on their fine motor skills through play. It will be fun and their handwriting will improve!
